Permits

The City of Richland Center requires permits for certain activities that impact public spaces, infrastructure, or the general flow of traffic and pedestrian access. The Clerk-Treasurer’s Office is responsible for processing these permits and ensuring that events and activities are conducted safely and in accordance with local ordinances.

  1. Dumpster Permit

    • Required for any dumpster or roll-off container placed on public right-of-way (e.g., streets or sidewalks). This helps ensure proper placement, safety, and limited disruption to traffic or pedestrian flow

    • Regulated by Municipal Code Chapter 391 | Ordinance No. 2001-20

    • Permits are issued one week (7 days) at a time

    • Fee: $10 / week

  2. Parade Permit

    • Required for any public procession that may disrupt traffic or use city streets, such as parades, marches, or organized walks
    • Regulated by Municipal Code Chapter 243
    • Must be submitted 30 days prior to event
  3. Street Closure

    • Necessary when closing any public street for construction, private events, block parties, or other special activities

      • Any full or partial closure of public streets or alleys

    • Residents and businesses in the affected area should be notified prior to submitting the permit application
