Street Division

The Streets Division of Richland Center's Public Works Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of the city’s street infrastructure. Key tasks include:

• Street resurfacing, pothole repair, crack-sealing, and pavement marking
• Street sweeping and vegetation control along roadsides
• Snow plowing, salting, and alternate-side parking enforcement during winter
• Traffic sign installation and maintenance
• Emergency response for storm damage and roadway hazards

Here's what keeps our crew busy

• Pavement Maintenance: Routinely inspect and maintain streets—patching potholes, sealing cracks, painting road markings, and ensuring signage is visible
• Street Sweeping: Spring and fall street cleaning helps reduce debris in drainage systems and improves safety
• Winter Operations: Snow plowing & ice control: Streets are plowed and treated with salt and sand
• Traffic & Signage: Install, replace, and maintain street signs, traffic signals, and related infrastructure

Seasonal Reminders

• Alternate Side Parking: December 1 – February 28, from 12:01 AM – 7:00 AM, park on odd-numbered side on odd dates, and even on even—vehicles in violation may be ticketed (Chapter 101.15, Ordinance 2024-03)
• Snow emergencies: When declared, all street parking is disabled—stay tuned via WRCO, the city website, or PD Facebook
• Yard Waste Pickup: Monday - Wednesday in April & 3rd week of May-September
• Leaf Pickup: 2nd Monday of October through the 2nd week of November
• Christmas Tree Collection: Each Monday in January
