The Public Works Department issues permits for driveway access, sidewalk construction or replacement, street cuts, and dumpsters placed in the right-of-way. These permits help ensure safe access, maintain public infrastructure, and comply with City Ordinances.

General Notes for Contractors & Residents

All work must comply with the City's standard specifications for driveways, sidewalks, and curb & gutter.
Contractors must dispose of debris properly and are responsible for restoring adjacent lawns or boulevards.
The City reserves the right to make repairs or alterations in the public right-of-way at any time.

Driveway Permit

A Driveway Permit is required to construct, alter, or replace any driveway that connects to a public street, crosses a sidewalk or curb, or changes access to public roadways.

Dumpster Permit

A Dumpster Permit is required to place a dumpster in a City street, alley, or right-of-way (e.g., streets or sidewalks). This helps ensure proper placement, safety, and limited disruption to traffic or pedestrian flow.

Road Right of Way & Street Cut Permit

A Right-of-Way (ROW) / Street Cut Permit is required to excavate, cut, or otherwise disturb pavement, curbs, or utilities within the public right-of-way.

Sidewalk Permit

A Sidewalk Permit is required to construct, repair, or replace sidewalks in the City’s right-of-way.

Are there rules about the size or location of my driveway?

Yes. Driveway width, slope, and distance from intersections are regulated by City Ordinance Chapter 615. Residential driveways are limited in width based on lot size, and driveways must be designed to ensure safe access and proper drainage.
