How to Review & Discuss Your Assessment
If you have questions regarding your property assessment, we encourage you to participate in the Open Book process. You may choose one of the two following methods to connect with an assessor:
Option 1: Email Open Book (Virtual)
This is a convenient way to receive a written response to your specific questions.
- How to Contact: Visit accurateassessor.com.
- Instructions: Select "Richland Center" from the municipality dropdown menu, complete the online form, and select "Email Response."
- Turnaround: An assessor will reply via email within two business days.
Option 2: In-Person Open Book (Walk-In)
Meet directly with an assessor at the Municipal Building.
- Date: Tuesday, July 14, 2026
- Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Location: Municipal Building
- Format: Walk-ins only. Residents will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary.
What to Prepare
To have a productive discussion regarding your property value, please have the following items ready for your email or in-person visit:
- Your Assessment Notice: This contains your parcel number and current valuation.
- Recent Photos: Photos of any structural issues or interior conditions that may impact value.
- Market Evidence: Information on recent sales of similar properties in your neighborhood (if available).
- Appraisal Reports: Any private appraisals conducted within the last 24 months.
