Landfill Costs

  • Garbage: $105.00 per ton with a $10.00 minimum charge from 0 – 180 pounds.
  • Household garbage, large item trash, wood, metal, construction material also Furniture: Couch, chair, mattress, box spring, table. Effective 1/1/2015 the cost per ton increases to $105.00 with a minimum charge of $10.00 per Resolution 2014-23.
  • Concrete: $4.00 per ton. Minimum is up to 1,250 lbs. = $2.50
  • Appliances: $10.00 for each appliance. Stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, freezer, hot water heater, dehumidifier, humidifier, furnace, air conditioners or water heaters.
  • Microwaves: $25.00 each
  • Televisions: $25.00 each
  • Copy Machines: $25.00 each
  • Computers: Goodwill Industries is a collection/drop-off point for computers and computer related equipment in any condition – no charge.
  • Tires: As of June 17, 2020 tires will no longer be accepted at the Richland Center Landfill. For disposal, please take them directly to one of the following: L& M Salvage (608-647-3490) or R&K Tire & Auto (608-647-3150) or Bindle Tire & Auto (608-647-5851).
  • All recyclable items: cardboard, newspapers, magazines; glass bottles and jars – brown, clear, and green; tin cans; aluminum foil; aluminum cans; plastic 1-7 – at no charge
  • Light bulbs: Light bulbs of all types can be taken to Walsh’s Ace Hardware (608-647-8925).
  • Batteries: The Richland Center Landfill accepts household batteries.  Automotive batteries can be taken to Auto Zone (608-647-6484).
  • Oil Filters: O’Reilly Auto Parts will take used oil filters – no charge 12/12/2011
  • Used Oil: O’Reilly Auto Parts will take used oil

The City does not collect the following material and they should not be placed at the curb: lumber, rocks, concrete, soil, sod, metal, furniture. If the following material is left at the curb, you will receive a notice in the mail. If the material is not removed, it will be removed at your expense.
